How to apply
Funding opportunities are announced via an invitation only process or through a competitive RFP process. Proposals are submitted utilizing online forms or emailed to grants@blandinfoundation.org (email applications are only accepted after confirmation from a blandin foundation staff member). Unsolicited proposals are not accepted. Applicants must be based in minnesota. All grants will be reviewed and awarded upon determined dates established by blandin foundation staff and leadership. Grant awards over $250,000 will be reviewed and approved by the board of trustees. Grant awards of $250,000 and below are reviewed and approved by the CEO. All grants will be ratified by the board of trustees on a quarterly basis.

Restrictions
Eligible organizations: 501(C)(3) organizations, tribal or governmental units located in (1) grand rapids/itasca county, mn; and (2) state of minnesota for projects focusing on rural minnesota communities under 35,000 in population. Priority is given to communities under 20,000. How to apply
Itasca county, mn area high school graduates are eligible, see details below. Online applications accepted here: Https://blandinfoundation.org/programs/itasca-area/scholarships/. Applicants must complete the free application for federal student aid (fafsa) and submit a copy of the fafsa submission summary to blandin foundation. A copy of the student's federal tax return, or parents' form 1040 or 1040EZ (for dependent students) must also be included.
Deadlines
May 1 deadline for fall enrollment and disbursement.
Restrictions
Graduates under age 25 as of September 1 of the effective school year of an itasca county, mn, school district: Bigfork, blackduck, bug-o-nay-ge-shig, deer river, grand rapids, greenway, hill city, nashwauk-keewatin, northern lights community school, northome or remer, and home-schooled or online students WHO would have graduated from one of these schools. No limitations on academic fields or institutions. Certificate programs, community, technical or tribal colleges, and colleges or universities are eligible through the bachelor's degree level as long as they are located in the United States and recognized as an accredited institution by the u.s. Department of Education. Graduate or doctoral degree level studies are not eligible.
