How to apply
- How to apply
- All requests must be submitted online, and through the foundation's online portal. The submission requirements vary. In general the following should be included: Mission statement, a request description, an organizational budget, list of board members and their affiliation, proof of tax-exempt status under section 501(C)3, including the determination that the organization is not a private foundation under section 509(A)(1) and a copy of the most recently completed audit or a current irs form 990.
- Deadlines
- Letters of intent: June 1 & December 1; proposals: March 1 & August 15.
- Restrictions
- Limitations: Giving to mid-atlantic and new England regions. No int'l funding, support for religion-based programs or lobbying. Program areas: Community fund: 3-YEAR operating grants to orgs. On an annually rotating schedule of issues incl. Hunger/ food sytem, environment, education and health & human services. Support includes a professional development/wellness grant. Emerging leaders fund: Designed to support the role that exec. Directors play in launching and growing early-stage orgs. The foundation awards a 4-YEAR operating grant and access to a professional development fund. Past grantees have access to the alumni professional development fund. The foundation accepts nominations for this program. Partnership fund: Awards 3-YEAR operating grants to former foundation grantees that demonstrate a timely need because of significant org. Change driven by community voice. Support includes a professional development/wellness grant.
