How to apply
- How to apply
- All funding requests will be discussed with foundation staff prior to preparation and submission of grant requests. Foundation staff will determine if a grant request letter or full grant application is required. The foundation has specific grant letter and grant application formats. In addition to completing the required request document, grantseekers will be asked to provide a copy of their current irs determination letter indicating irs 501 (C)(3) tax-exempt status; a list of board of directors, with affiliations; the organization's current annual operating budget, including expenses and revenue; most recent annual financial statements (independently audited, if available; if not available they should attach a copy of their most recent completed irs form 990); letters of support should verify project need and collaboration with other organizations, if available.
- Deadlines
- Deadlines for submitting grant applications are February 1 and July 1
- Restrictions
- Grants are made to organizations with programs serving residents of the detroit, michigan metropolitan area (wayne, oakland and macomb counties). There will be no grants higher than 50,000; no grants will be made to municipalities, other governmental departments or funds (except by specific action). Brick and mortar grants are discouraged. However, mhf will consider requests for initiatives that will help an organization build its capacity, including such things as new equipment, facility renovations, technology, new health center access points, etc. Mhf will not provide loans; support religious organizations; indulge in lobbying; or support organizations which discriminate because of age, race, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or sex.
