How to apply
A sponsoring institution should contact the foundation directly by telephone or by email to obtain information on eligibility and the nominating process. Sponsoring institutions will need to submit a completed application on behalf of the referred music teacher and include contact information for three other references pertaining to the individual's career in music. The application includes both professional and financial details (i.e. A federal tax return) and will need to be completed in collaboration with the individual. The presser foundation reviews such applications on an ongoing basis.
Deadlines
There are no submission deadlines.
Restrictions
Typically, the foundation provides modest financial assistance and/or help with the cost of medical insurance. Awards are made to individuals living in the u.s. Whose primary occupation was as a music teacher. Applicants must have had a significant career as a music teacher and should generally be of retirement age and in serious financial distress. In order to be considered for assistance, applicants must be nominated by a music institution that has first-hand knowledge of the applicant's professional accomplishments and personal circumstances, either directly as current or former employers, or through professional or community contacts, such as through competitions, master classes or ensembles sponsored by the institution that the applicant's students May have participated in over the years, or through regional professional associations or organizations.

Invited graduate schools of music should submit their applications electronically via the organization's website, www.presserfoundtion.org

There are no submission deadlines.
Restrictions
The presser foundation only accepts proposals from invited graduate schools of music. Invited annually, graduate schools of music at accredited colleges, universities, and independent institutions of higher education have been invited to present the presser graduate music award to an outstanding graduate music student whom they select. The award is a cash stipend of up to $10,000, which is made available to a graduate student designated by the institution, provided that the institution agrees to the terms of participation and based upon receipt by the foundation of a suitable plan prepared by the nominated recipient for use of the money. The amount of the award varies from year to year based on the number of graduate institutions.
