Proposals are being accepted by the Mineral Resources Program (MRP), Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (Earth MRI) for State geological survey Mine Waste activities. Funds are made available to participating State geological surveys for activities focusing on mine waste inventory and characterization data compilation and acquisition, sampling and mapping efforts in support of ongoing Earth MRI efforts. State geological surveys may also apply for travel funds to the annual 2026 Earth MRI workshop. In FY 2026, approximately $5M is available for allocation to USGS Mine Waste cooperative agreements through a competitive proposal process. All MRP funds must be obligated by Sep 30, 2026.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Southwest Biological Science Center (SBSC) seeks to provide financial assistance to help build a program focusing on reclamation sciences to support energy development, critical minerals, and streamlining regulation. This program should identify opportunities to improve outcomes and efficiency of reclamation through (1) surveys of reclamation outcomes, analysis of existing experiments, and literature synthesis; (2) developing tools and maps to support reclamation; and (3) communicating new insights to stakeholders, including industry partners. The purpose of the Culvert AOP Competitive Grant Program is to provide funding to eligible entities for the replacement, removal, and repair of culverts or weirs that meaningfully improve or restore fish passage for anadromous fish. Anadromous fish are born in freshwater and spend most of their lives in saltwater, returning to freshwater to spawn. Salmon are a well-known example of anadromous fish.

The EPA’s South Florida Program supports projects within the 16 counties that overlap with the South Florida Water Management District. Demonstration projects that generate tangible and practical results through applied science frameworks that seek to advance and scale future interventions will be prioritized. Projects should also include scientifically and statistically rigorous studies, surveys, research, investigations, or pre- and post-monitoring data collection and dissemination where appropriate, to effectively evaluate project outcomes and develop subsequent research questions that inform and improve decision making by the Agency and its partners working to restore water quality and aquatic habitat within the South Florida ecosystem.

NMFS, in coordination with the New England Fishery Management Council (Council), is soliciting proposals under the Scallop RSA Program. Projects funded under the Scallop RSA Program must enhance the knowledge of the scallop fishery resource or contribute to the body of information on which scallop management decisions are made. Priority will be given to proposals that investigate research priorities developed by the Council, which are detailed under the Program Priorities section of this announcement Successful applicants will be awarded scallop RSA quota.
