The purpose of the BIT3 Program is to fund the replacement or rehabilitation of county-owned bridges that are classified as Type 3 bridges[1] by the U.S. Department of Interior Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) and cross a water conveyance structure owned by USBR. Eligible applicants under the BIT3 Competitive Grant Program are counties which own a Type 3 bridge crossing a water conveyance structure owned by USBR. The Scheme supports regional commercial airlines operating low volume and new routes to regional and remote communities; as well as aeromedical providers. The Government's policy for aviation encourages the growth of regional aviation services across Australia and the expansion of the current network by giving impetus for operators to test whether a new route can be commercially viable in time. This program provides discretionary State loans to eligible public-use airports for projects that enhance an airport’s ability to provide general aviation services. Types of projects funded by these loans include hangars, General Aviation (GA) terminals, utilities, GA fueling facilities, Caltrans Acquisition and Development eligible projects, or local share for a federal Airport Improvement Program grant. The maximum term of a loan is 17 years. The Department approves the amount of the loan in accordance with the project’s feasibility and the sponsor’s financial situation.
